The clanging of a baton screeches all through the cold and dark cells, only a slight crack is all the light they have. Light shines through the cracks in the old clay bricks. Corners of each cell; like pits to no man’s land, abundances of darkness.
Light shines off her emerald green eye; distorting quickly. Her head flicked back, out of the rare light strand. From lying on her side to sitting upright, she glanced around the empty cell.
Delicate old dragon wings; bounded with chrome steel, in a sort of handcuff fashion restricted all movement. Cramps often grinded every joint in her wings, making it quite painful to move them the slightest bit.
Footsteps; 3 pairs. Walking in sync down the long and dark cell. A regal empress walks elegantly to her cell. Her hair swayed when she moved, her pearl white dress looked nothing less than stunning even in the dusty and damp halls. The teal green on her cape glistens in the dim light; like dew drops on a new leaf. Aromas of flowers from her crown were only just noticeable over the dust and rotting remains. Eyes like diamonds look at the girl in the cell.
"Well Ender, finally you have awoken from your coma. Three months is a long time, even for you!" She said kindly with a slight giggled. "How was your sleep?"
"Don't bother talking to me..." Ender mumbled under her breath, facing away from Empress Kaiserin. Kaiserin sighs whilst tapping her foot on the cold titanium cell bars.
"Besides the usual arrogance you’re not in the best shape... Here, I have something for you, if you will accept it". She sits a small cardboard box in the edge of the cell; generally tapping it with her foot, sliding it into the small beam of light.
"I don't want anything from you!" Ender pounced slightly towards Kaiserin. Both of the guards drew their swords, within the blink of an eye the swords were pointed at Ender through the bars. Enders face; emotionless, she turned back away without hesitation. The empress did not flinch; she only raised her hand to chest height, softly lowering it in time with the guard’s swords.
"If you insist" She sighs softly. "It will be there if you get tempted" A slight smile glances over her face.
"Empress, we must go so you may tend to your ernes now" One guard whispers to her with the least of emotion.
"Alright" She looks to Ender. "One day we might be sisters again". She let one single tear escape from inside. It rolled down her rose cheek slowly falling to the ground. The guards turned down the long hall, walking slowly away with the empress.
"One day that will never come" Ender muttered under her breath.
Footsteps grew quitter until there was no sound left. After an hour had passed; an hour that felt like weeks to Ender, she started to wonder what the box held inside.
"I don't want anything from the Sky republic, but I am very curious of its contents". Ender moved closer to the box, placing her index and middle fingers on the top of the box. Even though the box is cardboard it still became warm in the cold room. Her cold fingers became numb as they instantly flinched away from the box. Quickly she snatched the box from the light; dropping it into a darkened part of the cell. Carefully lifting the tag Ender examines it, after sighing she begins to read it, it reads:
“Dear Ender,
This was the only way I could teach you to control the rage in your heart. I'm sorry, but what is in this box will help you be happier and look better. And no matter what we will always be together, in a way.”
Tears fill her emerald and violet eyes. Slowly her heart fills with sorrow, regretting her past mistakes.
"Trying to over throw the nobles of the Sky republic might not have been the best idea now I think over it..." She looks out of the small crack in the wall; blinding bright white light. Ender stumbles backwards, tripping on the box. Turning to see the sun scorched box, kicking it across the room into another corner. Sighing briefly; she flops down onto the cold cement below. Ender slowly stretched backwards, over balancing herself, causing her to fall onto her wings, the heavy chrome steel bands weighed her down.
“Only nine more life sentences to serve out…at least it is not ten” She giggled as her eyes grew heavy as she decided to give in to temptation and sleep; within minutes she was asleep.
